A Guide to Public Cord Blood Banking for MCH Professionals

In this Webinar, Marcie Finney, MS, MBA, will discuss public cord blood banking and the importance of educating expectant parents about their options prior to delivery. She will provide you with facts and information in regards to the impact that cord blood banking is having not only in Atlanta, but worldwide. Candice Laster, LPN, will also discuss screening expectant parents and the best practice with collecting cord blood post -delivery to ensure optimal volume when collecting.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion, participants will have:

1. Gained knowledge in regards to cord blood banking and its current uses. Understanding the impact of public banking and research.

2. The ability to educate expectant parents with the options that are available to them. Private vs public banking.

3. Understand best practice collection techniques to ensure optimal volume and reducing potential contamination.

4. Knowledge of the impact Atlanta has made in regards to public cord blood banking.
