Junior Harewood is the Chief Executive Officer of UnitedHealthcare of Georgia and Alabama for employer and individual health plans. In this role, Junior is charged with leading the commercial health plans in Georgia and Alabama to successfully deliver affordable, quality health care programs to employers and plan sponsors, which improve the overall health and wellbeing of their members. He is responsible for the day-to-day internal operations and external contact with a variety of constituents including customers, prospects, brokers, healthcare providers and community/civic leaders. He has legislative and regulatory oversight and is responsible for the overall growth and profit and loss performance of the health plan. Junior has been with UnitedHealthcare for more than 25 years, serving in various roles in sales and account management, care coordination and quality assurance. Junior is a graduate of St. John’s University in New York, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Government & Politics, and is currently completing an Executive MBA program at the University of Georgia. He regularly volunteers at the Atlanta Community Food Bank, is an alumnus of the United Way Volunteer Involvement Program and is a member of Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Leadership Trust Committee.
