Atlanta, Georgia – Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia (HMHBGA) is thrilled to announce a momentous all-community celebration commemorating its 50th anniversary. Taking place from May 2nd to May 4th, 2024, in various locations across metro Atlanta, this landmark celebration aims to honor collective roots, foster deep connections, and drive change among a diverse community of parents, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and advocates.
Since its establishment in 1974, HMHBGA has served as the strongest statewide voice for improved access to healthcare and better health outcomes for Georgia's mothers and babies. HMHBGA's mission is to improve maternal and infant health through advocacy, education, and access to vital resources.
The driving theme behind the celebration is "Homecoming: Celebrating Our Shared Roots, Empowering Our Future" to continue shaping a brighter future for maternal and infant health in Georgia. The 50th-anniversary celebration features a dynamic lineup of activities spanning three days, including:
Day 1 - Thursday, May 2, 2024: Freight Depot, Atlanta, GA
Advocacy 101 Training: We will equip the perinatal workforce, moms, birthers, and partners with advocacy skills, covering understanding advocacy, tools, policy engagement, self-advocacy, and promoting equity. *This event is FREE to the public.
Lunch with Legislators: Workforce members and families will have the opportunity to discuss issues that matter to them with their elected officials. *This event is FREE to the public.
Policy Experts: Commemorate HMHBGA’s 50th Anniversary by hearing from key perinatal workforce and policy experts. Explore the ways in which the workforce is impacted by the work in the Georgia Assembly. *This event is FREE to the public.
Day 2 - Friday, May 3, 2024: Starling Hotel, Atlanta, GA
Full Day Educational Conference: Experience dynamic sessions, a high-profile keynote, panel discussions, an exhibit hall, and networking with industry experts.
50th Anniversary Gala: Join us for an evening of celebration where we will honor dynamic change makers in our community, reflect on our impact, and bring together hundreds of Georgians to celebrate moms, birthing people, and babies. Enjoy live music, comedy, 360 photo booths, and much more at this black-tie affair.
Day 3 - Saturday, May 4, 2024, Honeysuckle Park, Doraville, GA
Community Health Fair: We will feature vendors such as CMOs, mobile dentistry and health units, perinatal workforce organizations, community-based services, state services, and food vendors. Enjoy exciting activities like field games, a bounce house, face painting, balloon art, and opportunities for relaxation through yoga, mindfulness, and sound baths. Childcare will be available. *This event is FREE to the public.
