Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies conducted a Maternal Mental Health Environmental Scan to deepen our understanding of the gaps in access to mental health care for pregnant and postpartum people living in the Albany, Atlanta, and Columbus perinatal regions. Additionally, we aimed to increase the knowledge of current screening, medication, and education practices during the perinatal period.
The scan included a survey and interviews with maternal mental health providers, focus groups with pregnant and postpartum people, and a secondary quantitative review of mental health resources. We hope that the results from the scan will help to inform programmatic and policy solutions.
