Please join HMHB and Georgia Watch as we discuss the 2018-2019 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) process for hospitals across Georgia and our role in encouraging inclusion of Maternal & Infant Health (M&I) priorities.

Of 108 hospitals that are required to conduct a CHNA in Georgia, only 20 prioritized M&I during their last assessment. It is important for community-based organizations and front-line providers to encourage their local hospital system to include maternal and infant health priorities in this round of CHNAs to ensure that community benefits will also address Georgia’s poor perinatal outcomes.

During this webinar, participants will gain the knowledge needed to advocate for their local hospital system to prioritize maternal and infant health during their 2018-19 CHNA process.

“Nonprofit hospitals classified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as 501(c)(3) charitable organizations have long been obligated to provide community benefits as a condition of their tax-exempt status. A requirement in the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) mandates that all nonprofit hospitals conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) every three years with input from community members and public health. Nonprofit hospitals must then develop an Implementation Strategy to address the significant health needs identified in their communities. Many hospitals published their first CHNAs in 2012 and 2013.”
